Every now and again I get approached by companies asking me to review or write about their products, usually in exchange for either a modest payment or some of their product. I often say no to these items, just because they don’t quite fit in to the purpose of this blog – sharing food ideas that works for one person. When Minted approached me to work with them, I almost said no. Minted have a product range that incorporates stationery, art, fabric and other home décor products. So not exactly a great fit for the purpose of this blog.
But I am a bit of a stationery junkie so I had a little bit of a peek before saying no and I just loved what they were showcasing and was very keen to share with you. The designs are just gorgeous and I wish I had found them last year when my nephew was born as there are some great custom art options you can do. Much more memorable than the clothing I ended up giving.
Minted also work with independent designers, which always appeals to me – I like supporting small business as well as seeing something just a little bit different.
One of my goals for this coming year has been to get some great art in my study. I want to get something that makes the room more welcoming than it currently is, a space that I actually want to be in. I had had a look at couple of print shops and had seen some nice designs but nothing that I loved.
Not a problem when I looked at Minted and in particular their art marketplace and I am now struggling to decide which art I want to buy. They have an amazing range of products including ideas for using your own photographs. But I have been trying to decide between the three pictures below. I can’t decide if I want to go the abstract route or go with something a bit more of a message. I must admit that as a foodie I am leaning towards a picture of macarons although the picture with the message about growing a backbone is probably something I need – I am working very hard on standing up for myself. I am definitely a conflict avoider! Which one would you choose? Would love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
But below is the art I think I should buy and hang in the kitchen. It would be so useful with the American recipes I read!
If I am not careful I can see myself ending up with an art wall in pretty quick time, which wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing. There are great examples of art walls with each photo. I love this one if you are looking for some inspiration.
I am also thinking that one of the photography pieces like the circle snapshot mix would make a great present for my hard to buy for brother (Kimberley if you are reading this what do you think?)
Aside from the actual range of designs available, Minted offer a lovely range of frames to choose from. You can get your art unframed and I may need to given it is shipping to Australia but I am seriously thinking that in reality if I don’t buy it framed it won’t make it on to the wall. The art also comes in different sizes and I love the way they get a person to hold up the picture so you can see what the size actually translates to.
And just to get back a bit on to a food theme, Minted also sell cake plates. I am definitely lusting over this milk glass cake plate.
